Borsari Food Company

Born in tradition, dedicated to flavor.

When Adolfo and Adellcisa Borsari left Italy for America in 1914, they brought along a wealth of culinary knowledge. One of the most cherished recipes from their home region of Emilia was a blend made of coarse salt blended with garlic, fresh herbs, and spices that imparted a deep and authentic Italian flavor to every dish it seasoned. It became a family secret that was handed down over the generations. In 1970, Adellcisa took her grandson Adolph Morando aside with her characteristic “little wink followed by that big beaming smile” and taught him how to make the salts. The measurements weren’t precise, and the ingredients often varied by what was fresh in the garden, but the backbone of the recipe was clear. Adolph learned well and was soon making the salts for his own use and as gifts for friends.

In 2001, Adolph and his wife Betsy decided that it was time to share their secret ingredient with the country, and Borsari Food Company was born. Guided by the original, they began creating new variations—adding Citrus, Orange Ginger, and Savory blends, followed by Cracked Pepper, Coffee, and Everything Bagel. Today, Borsari offers eight signature blends, each designed to elevate everyday cooking.

Now entering a new chapter, Borsari is led by Lindsay Neilson, who brings fresh energy and vision to the brand while honoring its roots. She’s committed to preserving the authenticity that defines Borsari, while introducing the blends to a new generation of home cooks, chefs, and food lovers nationwide.

You’ll find Borsari salt blends at specialty retailers, regional grocers, and nationally at Whole Foods.

We're certain Noni Borsari would be thrilled to know her legacy lives on in kitchens across the country. If she were here today, we feel certain that we would get that “little wink followed by the big beaming smile.”
