Shakshuka with Savory Seasoning

This Shakshuka with Savory Seasoning is a vibrant, comforting dish of eggs poached in a spiced tomato and pepper sauce. Borsari Savory Seasoning adds depth and balance, making this Middle Eastern classic even more flavorful. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dinner, shakshuka is best served with warm crusty bread for dipping.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Borsari Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp Borsari Savory Seasoning
  • 6 large eggs
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Crumbled feta (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté Aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper. Cook 5 to 7 minutes until softened.
  2. Build the Sauce: Stir in garlic, paprika, cumin, and Borsari Savory Seasoning. Cook 1 minute until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the Eggs: Make small wells in the sauce with a spoon. Crack eggs into each well. Cover skillet and cook 5 to 7 minutes, until whites are set but yolks are still runny.
  4. Finish: Remove from heat. Garnish with parsley and feta, if desired.
  5. Serve: Serve hot with warm crusty bread or pita for dipping.

Pro Tips

  • For a smoky twist, add a pinch of smoked paprika or chili flakes.
  • Keep yolks runny for the best dipping experience.
  • Turn leftovers into a next-day brunch by reheating gently and serving with toast.
