Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 6–8 hrs (slow cooker or oven)
Servings: 8–10 sandwiches
Ingredients
- 4 - 5 lb pork shoulder (Boston butt)
- 2 Tbsp Borsari Original Seasoning
- 2 Tbsp Borsari Coffee Seasoning
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (plus more for serving)
- 8 - 10 sandwich buns, toasted
- 2 cups coleslaw (optional topping)
Instructions
- Season the pork: Pat the pork shoulder dry. Rub all over with Borsari Original Seasoning, Borsari Coffee Seasoning.
- Slow cook: Place pork in a slow cooker (or Dutch oven). Add apple cider vinegar, broth, and 1/2 cup BBQ sauce. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours (or at 300°F in the oven for 6 hours), until meat is tender and shreds easily.
- Shred the pork: Remove pork from pot and shred with two forks. Mix back into cooking juices for extra flavor.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Pile pulled pork onto toasted buns. Top with extra BBQ sauce and coleslaw, if desired.
- Serve: Enjoy warm with chips, fries, or pickles on the side.
Pro Tips
- For a smoky twist, cook the pork on a grill or smoker instead of indoors.
- Toast the buns for extra crunch and to prevent them from getting soggy.
- Make ahead: Pulled pork reheats beautifully - store leftovers in the cooking liquid for best flavor.
